Some love stories begin with a grand gesture, while others start with a simple friendship. For Katelyn and Mason, it was the latter. The two met while they were in high school and spent several years as friends before realizing there might be something more between them. As Katelyn shared with us, “We were friends for a couple years before we started dating and have now been together for 6 years.”

Their relationship officially began over ice cream, proving that sometimes the sweetest moments can lead to something truly special. What started as a casual outing quickly turned into a lasting relationship built on friendship, trust, and plenty of memories together.

A side-by-side trip proposal

Last October, the couple traveled to Michigan for a side-by-side riding trip, enjoying the beautiful fall scenery and spending time together outdoors. During the trip, Mason had a surprise of his own planned. While visiting the beach, he got down on one knee and asked Katelyn to marry him. Although she knew an engagement was likely in the near future, she was completely caught off guard by the timing. She had expected it to happen on a different day altogether!

Looking back, the two laugh about what they were wearing during such a life-changing moment. There were no fancy outfits or carefully hair and make-up. Katelyn was dressed in leggings, a t-shirt, and muck boots, while Mason was sporting his Carhartts. It was a perfectly authentic reflection of who they are as a couple—comfortable, down-to-earth, and simply enjoying life together.

An engagement video

At LVP Studios we offer photography, videography, and package bundles to all of our couples who are getting married. We often book weddings for simply just videography, and when we do we still like to take the time to do an engagement session if possible. This is a great time for us to get to know our couples a bit more. It also allows each of our couples the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera.
