A hot summer afternoon at Ogden Gardens in Valparaiso, Indiana followed by a limousine ride to their reception hall at The Allure in Laporte, Indiana with their wild and fun bridal party to meet up with special friends and family, and then finishing off the night with great speeches, tons of dancing, and enjoying their first night together as husband and wife—this was Kaela & Derek’s special day.
An Awkward Teenage Love Story
Throughout their wedding video, you hear over and over again from speeches done by loved ones, their own vows, and more the love story of Kaela & Derek. They met over 10 years ago on a blind date set up by Kaela’s sister. To this day, their awkward first encounter is joked about–they both sat at a booth in an Applebees restaurant not talking to each other. However, that didn’t stop Derek from seeing the love of his life in the eyes of Kaela across the table. Shortly after their awful first date Derek sent Kaela a text asking her to a festival. And as they say, the rest was history.
When asked of their proposal, Kaela told us that, “He proposed on the rooftop of our favorite restaurant on our 9 year anniversary.” A love lasting through the teenage years, into adulthood, has many trials and celebrations. Of course, after 9 years, Kaela said yes to the love of her life and they knew they were meant to be together forever.

Kaela & Derek got married in front of the gazebo at Ogden Gardens in Valparaiso, Indiana. It was a hot summer day with no shade in sight. As Derek stood at the front of the aisle waiting for his beautiful bride to walk down the flower-lined aisle of the gardens, the thought of the warm day escaped him and all he could do was look at how stunning Kaela was.
After they said their “I do’s,” the two love birds and their bridal party took a limo to The Allure reception hall in LaPorte, Indiana. There they celebrated with their friends and family with a catered meal served to elegant tables, tons of dancing and partying, and of course enjoying their evening together as husband and wife for the first time.
