Kari & Zach had a dream wedding day at the Gathering Place at The Old Mill in Twelve Mile, Indiana on a sunny fall day. Kari started her morning getting ready in the onsite Bridal Suites with their closest friends while Zach got dressed at home with all the guys. Afterwards, they shared a sweet first look moment, personal vows, and an intimate gift in private before walking down the aisle and sealing the deal as husband and wife. During the ceremony they participated in a ‘dirt ceremony’ in which they mixed dirt from each of their family farms, exchanged rings, and kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Kari & Zach continued to celebrated their marriage at their reception by dancing their first dance, cutting delicious cake, eating good food, and enjoying the night as husband and wife.
It all started at a Farm Show
In February of 2018 Kari and one of her girl friends went down to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky to we meet up with a guy that her friend was talking to. This gentleman also had a friend with him, into Zach. Because of these mutual friends, Kari & Zach ended up hanging out at the bars during the Farm Show. Kari said, “the next day on my way home he messaged me….and almost 4.5 years later he proposed!”
On November 4, 2022 Kari & Zach were harvesting their last field of corn at their house. Kari always runs the auger cart and Zach rides the combine. Their neighbor brought his little girl over to the field which wasn’t unusual because she like to look at the tractors, and Kari thought she was going to ride in the combine. However, the neighbor was actually bringing Zach the ring so he could propose! When Zach was unloading corn Kari got out to talk to the neighbor and when she turned around Zach was on his knee.
During their initial planning meetings I asked Kari & Zach if there was anything special or sentimental that they plan to include during their wedding planning they said “farming.” From the moment we met them they had mentioned wanting to make sure they had tractors in their engagement and wedding pictures. And this was something we were happy to accommodate for them! Whenever we get a chance to try incorporating personal things that are special to our couples into their sessions we are totally down.
Their sunny fall wedding was beautifully decorated with rustic elements and colors like rosewood, spice, and terracotta. They also had lots of dark red/burgundy and dark orange. Everything felt perfect for the season and really highlighted their rustic country roots.
After the ceremony, Kari & Zach went back to their personal property for photos at the farm in their wedding gear. We stood in a field with Kari in her gorgeous white gown and Zach in his jeans, boots, and khaki suit jacket. They even had the chance to pose in front of their combine tractor like they had always wanted.
