Your wedding photos will be the way in which you review and look back on your wedding for years to come. You’ll immediately share them online and with others, you’ll look through them again year after year, but most importantly you will have your wedding photos 50 years from now to reminisce about your wedding day, the ceremony, your first kiss, the first dance, and so much more.
Choosing the right photographer to capture those important moments can be a difficult decision knowing that it’s crucial to find a professional who understands you and your fiance, your vision for your wedding day, and can document it in the style that you want. But that being said, you’ll also want someone you trust and feel comfortable with since your photographer will be by your side the entire wedding day.
Our memories or major life moments (like weddings) are such important things. You don’t want to trust just anyone to document these special moments. Book with someone who you know can do a good job, but also you know has your back, is your friend, and will help you throughout the entire process and beyond. Book with someone who you can have confidence in throughout your entire wedding day. To help you find the right person to entrust with this task, we’ve provided some helpful questions that you need to ask your wedding photographer before booking.
Are you available on my wedding date?
Can you travel to my venue location? Do you charge for travel?
Will you be the one shooting my wedding? If not, can I meet the photographer who will be on-site?
Will you have any assistants or 2nd shooters with you on our wedding day?
How long have you been shooting weddings?
Can we see the full galleries of a few of your recent weddings?
Do you shoot digitally? With film? Or both?
What is included in your standard package? What add-ons do the more expensive packages include?
Do you include engagement photos in your packages?
How many hours are included in each package? How much do extra hours cost?
Do you offer retouching, color adjustment, or other corrective services? Are those included or an additional charge?
Can we order prints directly from you?
What type of albums do you offer? What is the album process like?
How long after the wedding will we receive the photos? How will they be delivered?
If we decide we want to book with you, what is that process like and what are our next steps?
How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due?
Do you offer payment plans?
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
Do you have liability insurance?
Do you carry backup equipment?
What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for an unexpected reason?
Can we request a list of specific shots we would like?
Will you be posting about our wedding on your website and social media?
What rights do we have to these final photos?
The key to finding wedding vendors you love? Interviewing them before you sign the contract. This is especially true with your photographer too. You’ll be spending almost the entire day with the photographer you choose, so in addition to loving their style, having an in-person or phone interview is a great way to make sure you’ll be happy to have them around.
For us at LVP Studios, the first step in our process is always meeting for coffee. After you reach out and get in touch we’ll talk some details but go over everything thoroughly when we meet for coffee. Reach out to us via our website and we will be in touch to set up a time to meet for coffee (or chat virtually). Wedding consultations are first on our list and are totally complimentary to all brides. We’ll talk about your big day and how we can help capture every moment.
