Due to COVID, Kathy & Jeff had made the tough decision to post-pone their wedding an entire year. They called their vendors, pushed everything back, and started the count down to being married all over again. However, early Friday afternoon on the one year mark before their big day Kathy called us asking if we could help film their quick elopement at the Swinging Bridge in the Winamac Town Park along the Tippecanoe River. Kathy & Jeff had made a last minute decision to just get married, and do their reception next year.
Their love story according to Kathy goes like this: “We started talking to each other on an online dating site. We talked for quite awhile before I finally got up the nerve to actually meet him!“ Their first time meeting was at the Whistle Stop in Monon, Indiana where they enjoyed a dinner together. Looking back on the experience now, Kathy & Jeff are shocked at how much they had in common on their first date.
And as they go, one date led to another, and they fell in love! Kathy & Jeff did not start their relationship out easy though—they lived in separate towns but always tried to spend as much time together as they could, and with both of their jobs too, that wasn’t easy! On February 6th, they were talking on the phone for a long time (as they did every night according to Kathy), and they hung up from talking, but little did Kathy know Jeff had planned to surprise her about a half hour later and came over to see her. They talked again for awhile, then Kathy went in the kitchen to get something and he followed her there.
After following Kathy into the kitchen, Jeff nervously started telling her how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. To Kathy’s surprise he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! And of course she said YES! Kathy says, “I was so happy! I went to my sons’ rooms to tell them, and they already knew! He got their blessing, plus that of my parents, before he asked me! I never in a million years thought I would have found my happy ever after on an online dating site, but I’m so happy I tried it! He is my everything!”
In the midst of this crazy global pandemic, Kathy & Jeff chose to reschedule their wedding date for an entire year. They had planned a beautiful wedding at the Monticello Gazebo in the court house lawn with a reception on the Madam Carroll taking them around Lake Freeman. They were excited to see all of their family and friends together, and of course, be able to finally call themselves Mr. & Mrs. Jeffrey McBride! But with plans changing due to COVID, Kathy & Jeff knew now was not the time to get all of their friends and family together for an event; however, they knew that one way or another they would still get to be Mr. & Mrs. McBride…
So, early one Friday afternoon Kathy called us at LVP Studios for video, Melissa Tanner Photography for photos, and Jennifer Shank-Maxwell for officiating. They had made the last minute decision to get married on the one year mark before their rescheduled wedding. Kathy & Jeff decided that they would then have their “wedding” as planned but it would be more of a one year anniversary party. We thought this was a great idea and were more than happy to make their quick elopement at the Swinging Bridge in the Winamac Town Park nothing short of perfect.
Kathy & Jeff’s wedding day was all about the love they shared. No need for a big crowd, no fancy dress or spiffy suit, no flowers or music or anything at all, they simply wanted to read their vows, say “I do,” and get married. While they would have loved to have family and friends present, they are ever grateful that they were able to capture their wedding day with video to share with everyone online. Kathy told LVP Studios, “I’m so happy we had you to share our special moment with! Can’t wait to see what the reception brings for us! Sure wish we could have had it all together, but we are together, and that’s all that matters!“
Kathy & Jeff, thank you for thinking of LVP Studios when wanting to capture your wedding day with video. It was such a spontaneous, love-filled day, and we are so very thankful that we were available to help memorialize this special day. I truly enjoyed being your wedding videographer.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. McBride! I hope you love this highlight film from your wedding.
