With everything that is happening in the world—the coronavirus, the global shut downs, the enforcement of nonessential businesses to close, and so on—we have not been able to shoot some of our scheduled sessions, weddings, and other events that we were very much looking forward to. However, recent news from Indiana and our local government has granted that we can officially begin to take outdoor sessions as long as social distancing is practiced. I am so glad that we were able to kick off this exciting chapter with Katie and Andy’s engagement session!!
Poblano’s, 4-H, and workin’ boots… the start of any great relationship.
For quite some time now we have had the pleasure to really get to know Andy and Katie, their love for the local Mexican food restaurant, Poblanos, and their love towards one another. We sat down a few months back at Poblanos together and chatted up a storm. It is so great when we can really learn to know our brides and their grooms on a more friendly basis. It’s definitely our favorite part of booking sessions.
When we asked them how they met, Katie said, “Honestly, I don’t remember the very first time we met. We were in 4H together growing up. We showed sheep against each other and participated in shooting sports together. We both got too old for it, and I moved away for collage for a year. However, the summer of 2016, we hit it off again at the location where we grew up together—the county fair. We hung out that last night of the fair, and he left me (HAHA I always joke with him about that).”
Work boots and plaid shirts are a true staple in these two’s relationship. In a matter of minutes, anyone can tell that they are a hard working couple who share a lot of the same interests. That being said, it was obvious once we got going during the engagement session just how much they both work hard for one another. Katie and Andy have a true connection, they support one another, and they always appear to be constantly caring for each other no matter how they can. And it just seemed fitting that we take their engagement pictures at a friends’ farm, the location of their reception, The Barn at Sioux Monti in Idaville, Indiana.
Andy surprised Katie with a proposal while planting corn at the farm!
Keeping the farm running is a team effort for these two, and sharing their love for one another while doing so makes the job seem not like a chore at all. Andy proposed to Katie on June 6, 2019. It was a very hot day, and they were on their last field of planting corn. Katie says she went out to ride on the tractor with Andy for a while before she planned to leave for a meeting that evening.
She told the story that, “He made me walk half way through a 90 acre field to get on the tractor (I was not happy! Haha). He got off the tractor as I got on. He asked me to get down to help him check seeds depths in the ground and as I was doing it he asked if I wanted to see this really cool rock he found. Knowing Andy I thought it would be an arrowhead or an odd shaped pebble. When I turned around it was a rock… my ring!”
Stay tuned for Andy and Katie’s August 2020 wedding!!
I am so excited for this couple’s wedding. We will be photographing and videotaping their special day. It will feature steel blue colors and blush accents, special touches like a sown blue heart in Katie’s dress made out of one of her grandpa’s old work shirts, and of course good food, good music, and good company. While Katie may be a little worried about the crazy things coming out of the groomsmen’s mouths (she says, and I quote, “they can be turds” haha), I know that their wedding will be unforgettable no matter what. As long as you always focus on marrying your best friend and having a great time celebrating and dancing, then nothing can ever go wrong. Here’s to these two love birds who I’m sure are counting down the days now.
