Samantha & Justin got married on a recent Saturday at Ancestral Acres Lodge & Barn in Bronson, MI. Their elegant greenery decor met with pops of jewel tones like burgundy and navy added a fairytale theme to their wedding. The day began with the bride and groom getting ready separately in the grand home on the estate. They then shared a special first touch moment on the front porch where they held hands around the corner and read their vows. Later, Samantha walked down the aisle with her mother and father towards her awaiting soon-to-be-husband surrounded by all of their closest friends and family members. After they officially said “I do” the festivities continued in the red barn at Ancestral Acres, where the evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, a fun caricature artist, and wild dancing moments shared with their closest friends (and one metal rooster).
Their rockin’ love story
Samantha is a self proclaimed rockhound and likes to search for Petoskey stones, along with others, at the beach. After the fireworks weekend, they had went to a nearby popular beach where they could spend the morning looking for things in the sand on their last day. When we were packing up to head back home, Justin said he wanted to get some pictures with their dog, Colby. Justin asked if Samantha found all the rocks she was looking for? Samantha said yes, even though that’s never true because there are always so many fossils and things she’s constantly looking for. However, she told us during that moment “I turned back around to him and he said, well what about this rock and was down on one knee with the ring.”
A fake first look, a fishbowl selection, and celebratory sparklers
Samantha & Justin’s wedding day at Ancestral Acres Lodge & Barn in Bronson, MI was nothing short of a fairytale dream with a playful twist. Their elegant greenery décor paired beautifully with rich jewel tones like burgundy and navy–giving their celebration a romantic and enchanted feel from start to finish. The day began inside the grand estate home as the couple got ready separately, surrounded by their closest friends and family who buzzed with anticipation.
Before sharing their emotional first touch moment, Samantha had one more surprise in store for her groom. Instead of the bride stepping out for a first look… Justin turned around to find his close friend dressed in a vintage wedding gown. The reaction was priceless–shocked laughter, playful teasing, and instantly eased nerves. It was the perfect way to kick off the day with joy and set the tone for everything that followed.
Once Justin recovered from the hilarious prank, it was time for the real moment. The couple stood around the corner from one another on the front porch, holding hands and reading their private vows. Tears, laughter, and a deep breath as they prepared to finally say “I do.”
Their ceremony was uniquely them–from the heartfelt words spoken to a fun twist during the marriage license signing. Instead of pre-selected witnesses, they placed guests’ names into a fishbowl and drew two at random! The energy in the crowd was electric as everyone waited to see who would be chosen to take part in such a meaningful piece of their story.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued inside the red barn. Heartfelt speeches highlighted the love they share, a caricature artist provided fun keepsakes, and the dance floor stayed packed with friends, family, and even a metal rooster who kept the party alive all night. Finally, Samantha & Justin ended their evening under a shower of sparklers running hand in hand toward their newest chapter together.
