A gorgeous day a family barn in West Lafayette outside of Prophetstown State Park spent getting ready with their bridal party, sharing in intimate of first look moments, saying their personal vows privately before the actual ceremony, and then finishing off the night with dinner, amazing speeches, tons of dancing to end their first night together as husband and wife—this was Alisyn & Samuel’s special day.
The completed their first communion together
Alisyn & Samuel started dating their freshman year of high school in 2013! He went to Pioneer and she went to Winamac, two towns only twenty minutes from each other. Alisyn told us that she had known of him since she was very young because they had actually completed their first communion together (so crazy)! She went on to say, “In middle school I was his sister’s pen pal and she joked then that I should date her brother! Little did we know a couple years later we actually would start dating!”
They both ended up going to Purdue University together, and they shared that college really tested their relationship at times but they made it through. Alisyn & Samuel told us, “We both knew we wanted to get married but wanted to wait till the “timing was right” especially with Alisyn going on to further her schooling.” Even though they were both on the same page about marriage after all of these years of dating Samuel was still able to surprise Alisyn with the proposal. He asked her that important question in August 2021 while she was at her grandpa’s house. He proposed in front of her grandpa with their two yellow labs wearing bandanas! Alisyn said, “My grandpa is my favorite person in the whole world so it was such a meaningful moment to all of us!!”
Family is everything to them
Alisyn & Samuel’s wedding was everything that they could have ever wanted. To them, family is the most important thing, and there were so many elements that brought their family together on their wedding day. They chose a rustic theme and wanted to keep it very simple but with some elegance. Alisyn even told us she is a very simple person! Dusty blue was their main color with all white flowers and lots of greenery–it turned out stunning. And to honor their family they had many photos, first looks, and special moments throughout their day.
When I asked them what they were most excited for leading up to the big day they said, “Marrying my absolute best friend while being surrounded by the most important people to us!”
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Kiser!
