Braving the cold never looked so beautiful. This sweet mama-to-be absolutely rocked her maternity session at Fairfield Lakes Park in the most gorgeous flowing blue dress, and the contrast against the quiet winter landscape made every photo feel extra special. Bailey and Dustin are expecting a baby boy in early April, and it was such an honor to capture this fleeting season of anticipation before their little one arrives.
While the photos look serene and effortless, the reality was that the temperatures were very cold that day. Before the session even started, we all agreed that shortening the session would be the best plan so everyone could stay comfortable. Maternity sessions are meant to be a joyful experience, not an endurance test against freezing weather.
The great news? A shorter session doesn’t mean fewer amazing photos.
One of the biggest advantages of working with experienced photographers is efficiency. Over the years, especially through photographing weddings, we’ve developed a rhythm that allows us to guide couples smoothly through poses and natural moments without wasting time. Weddings often require us to capture a huge variety of portraits on tight timelines, and that skill translates beautifully into sessions like this.
Because of that experience, we’re able to move quickly, adjust poses seamlessly, and make small location shifts in a short amount of time. Even though we kept the session shorter than usual, Bailey and Dustin still received a full gallery filled with meaningful, beautiful images.
Sometimes the most memorable sessions are the ones where everyone leans into the moment and makes the best of the conditions. The chilly air, the soft winter tones, and the excitement of a baby boy arriving soon all came together to create something truly special.
Bailey and Dustin, your little boy is already so loved, and we cannot wait for you to meet him in just a few short weeks.
