Taylor and Kody asked us to do something a little different for their engagement session–they wanted to go to the bar where they met. These dark, moody, and a little bit steamy photos feel like something out of a romance novel. After our Cooper’s Pub session we headed to France Park (a tried and true location) to get some more photos of this amazing couple.

The importance of Coopers Pub

As you can imagine, there’s a bit of a backstory as to why these two wanted engagement photos at a downtown Kokomo Pub. Taylor told us, “I used to work as a bartender at Cooper’s Pub in Kokomo where I first met Kody. He was from Illinois and just so happened to be working in Kokomo. He asked me to go out for a drink so that’s just what we did. And then the next day we went out for another few drinks.” After their initial meet cute in Kokomo, Kody left to go back to Illinois shortly after and they didn’t talk again for months.

Then the next time Kody was in Kokomo he came back to Cooper’s Pub. Taylor laughs about this part of the story and says, “I had to ask his friend his name because I had totally forgot it.” After a previous missed opportunity Kody eventually showed up for Taylor and they have been inseparable ever since.

Fast forward to the proposal…

Taylor and Kody have 4 kids between the two of them, so Taylor planned a mommy get away to Key West with her parents, sister, brother in law, and grandma. She told us, “When I got down there the girls were so adamant I get my nails done so I did. The following day we were all in the pool and the guys left to “go get beer” (aka pick up Kody from the airport) so us girls started getting ready for “a museum tour”. They again were so adamant about me wearing a certain dress and putting on makeup and getting ready in a certain room.”

When Taylor was dolled up and ready her family wanted to “take pictures” by the pool. She says she remembers being so oblivious to it all so as she walked out to the pool there was Kody getting down on one knee to propose. They spent the rest of the week in Key West, Louisville, and Nashville enjoying just getting engaged.

There upcoming wedding at the Legacy Barn in Kokomo, Indiana is going to be such a perfect celebration of the love these two share. They’re planning a classic black and white wedding, and are excited to have their four boys stand up there with them. They have chosen LVP Studios to document their special day with photo! We know that they are counting the days that their family and friends can all get together while they finally say their forever vows.
