Riley & Shawn told us that they’re old souls. We love that they can describe themselves together in that way, and it truly appears that they have each found their soul mate. Riley specifically said, “We are old souls [that] enjoy the outdoors and hanging out with our cute pup, Ava.” We did their engagement photos at the Tippecanoe River State Park in Winamac, Indiana when all of the fall leaves had nearly fallen to the ground. They also brought along their pup for precious pictures with her too.

A kitchen counter engagement

They met through Riley’s cousin. Shawn is best friends with Riley’s cousin so it was easy for them to get together! I then asked them about their proposal. While it wasn’t anything grand, it was the most perfect proposal for Riley & Shawn. It just fits their personalities so well. According to Riley, “Our proposal was in the kitchen of Shawn’s dads’ house.” They were sitting at the counter, and Shawn was playing with the ring he had gotten Riley first awhile ago. He was asking Riley about the size and trying to be all sly, but then that’s when he pulled out the engagement ring and asked Riley to spend forever together.

During their engagement session we enjoyed getting to know each other even more. We talked about their jobs, school, and their plans for the future. When I asked them what they were most excited about their upcoming wedding they said that they can’t wait to be sharing their love and simply being together.

A warm fall wedding is the perfect time for these two to get married. They’ll be saying their “I Do’s” at the Monterey Meeting Place (aka the old Monterey School) in Monterey, Indiana. Last time we chatted they were told us about their wedding theme of rustic casual with colors like dusty blue, dusty sage, gray, and silver sequin. They are also planning to include their dog, Ava, in the festivities. We will be photographing and video recording their special day. We know that these two are counting the days that their family and friends can all get together while they finally say their forever vows.
