We always love returning to Sioux-Monti in Idaville, Indiana, but this particular wedding felt extra special. Not only is this barn venue a favorite of ours with owners who feel more like friends, but the love story we were there to celebrate has been 13 years in the making. Dakota & Michael are high school sweethearts who have grown up together, built a life together, and now finally said “I do” among their closest family and friends, along with their sweet daughter, Margo, who made the cutest flower girl.
Thirteen Years in the Making
Both Dakota & Michael spent the morning getting ready onsite in Sioux-Monti’s new bridal suite, which is absolutely stunning. The anticipation built throughout the day as Michael did not see Dakota until she walked down the aisle with her dad. The moment he laid eyes on her, looking radiant in her beautiful gown, was unforgettable. Their ceremony was heartfelt and full of joyful emotions, especially when they both laughed and said, “We’re finally here,” during their personal vows.
The theme of the day was a dreamy boho aesthetic. There were macramé details, pampas grass, and a warm, earthy color palette featuring creams, oranges, and navy blues. It perfectly complemented the rustic charm of the barn and the open fields surrounding it.
Right after the ceremony, we hopped in a golf cart and headed toward the cow pasture just as the sun was dipping behind the horizon. The glowing light was pure magic and made for some truly breathtaking footage of the newlyweds soaking in their first moments as husband and wife.
The celebration continued into the night with dancing, delicious food, cake cutting, a photo dash, and the dollar game. It was surrounded by good company and so much laughter. Dakota & Michael’s day was everything a long-awaited love story deserves: joyful, relaxed, emotional, and incredibly beautiful.
