A surprisingly warm spring day at Loft 21 in Lincolnshire, Illinois just north of Chicago spent getting ready at a hotel with their bridal party before seeing each other for the first time at a local park and then walking down the aisle at their beautifully elegant indoor ceremony site, then finishing off the night with dinner, amazing speeches, and tons of dancing to end their first evening together as husband and wife—this was Emily & CJ’s special day.
College Sweethearts
When we first meet with LVP Couples during the planning process we love to chat about their love story, how they met, and the proposal. We asked Emily how her and CJ’s relationship first started and she said, “We were both in the same organization in college! Thanks to this, we had lots of mutual friends and attended a lot of the same events.” After attending many events and slowly starting to build a relationship with one another they joked that they were of course even more inclined to go to every event when they knew the other would be there!
Fast forward to the night of CJ’s proposal to Emily, they had an amazing meal together and went to walk around to look at holiday lights. Emily recalled, “Right when we got around to the main tree, he got down on one knee to propose! My future sister-in-law caught the whole thing and was our photographer for the proposal.”
A classic black tie wedding
You can never go wrong with a black tie event, and this was true for Emily & CJ’s wedding, too! Everything was stunning on their wedding day–the weather, the classic colors and clean look, the timeless vibe of the entire day.
They started their morning getting ready at a nearby hotel before sharing a special first look moment at a local park. Once Emily & CJ saw each other for the first time and completed some amazing photos with their fun bridal party, they loaded up to head to their venue, Loft 21. Once there, everything was decorated beautifully with classic looks like white flowers and black accents. Emily & CJ had lots of special sentimental items on their wedding day including: table numbers that were pictures of them at each age (I.e. table 1 = 1 yr old pics), a ‘Generations of Love’ welcome table that showed their parents’ and grandparents’ wedding pictures, and a slide show of Emily & CJ playing at each bar at the venue.
After their cinematic ceremony, Emily & CJ participated in the cocktail hour and got to say hello to all of their guests before doing a grand reveal of their reception space. They first cut their cake while their friends and family watched from a balcony up above before being released to join them for dinner. They ended the night with dinner, amazing speeches, and tons of dancing.
