Hey, Danyell here! I’ve been sharing sneaks and little bits of our exciting secret on Instagram, but now we are ready to finally say WE HAVE A STUDIO! We are super thrilled to have this office space where we can not only continue to capture pictures of families and little ones into the cold months, but also have a place to meet with potential couples who want to book with us for their upcoming wedding. Our studio is also going to be where I work day in and day out getting everything edited and posted for all of you!
This studio is still a work in progress (and probably always will be), but I’m tired of waiting –I just have to show you around! We actually showed a sneak peak to all of our email newsletter subscribers last month, and since then things have continued to change and develop. We will constantly be bettering our studio, but for now, it has become such a great place for photos and for meeting with clients.
Our studio is located in Winamac, Indiana, just outside of town on the Tippecanoe River. We are located on Old 14 about a 1/2 mile away from the Winamac Town Park. This loft studio was actually an apartment back in the day (more on that later) above my grandparents detached garage. It’s surrounded by acres of amazing land: apple trees, a pond, the river, pine needles, the works! Because it’s the upper portion of the garage, there are some stairs to climb but it opens up to an amazing upper deck great for spring time coffee or fall outdoor chats.
Inside The LVP Studios is all open. You’ll walk directly into the kitchenette area where we can service you coffee or cookies. We also just found the perfect furniture for our sitting area. We have a cute grey/oatmeal couch from At Home, as well as, a blush velvet chair from At Home too. I love that I can sit in the blush colored chair while families, brides, and other clients can relax on the couch. The sitting area is where you can meet with us to chat about your upcoming wedding, session, or just drop by for lunch. We also plan to host reveal parties for wedding galleries and celebrate watching your wedding video by popping some champagne here with family.
I have my desk area to get tons of work done, but then the remainder of the studio is used for backdrop areas. We have two designated areas along the back wall with amazing natural light. These shooting areas will constantly grow and change, so be on the look out for your next favorite backdrop.
The last thing I want to talk about is the bathroom. I know, funny thing to mention about a studio, but the bathroom is the place for memories (wait, what, haha?!) When re-doing the studio we hired someone so remove all of the old wallpaper and pain the walls white. However, we chose to leave the bathroom as is. Since that decision, I’ve also decided that we are going to embrace the old in here. The bathroom is going to be covered floor to ceiling in old pictures, dusty frames, and all of the memories.
I always chuckle showing clients who come into the studio the bathroom, because I mean, who does that?! But I love that it is the space we are using to remind all of you why documenting your memories is so important. I posted in this blog post about how lately I’ve been going through lots of family photo albums. And without fail, whenever I go through these images or show them again to someone else, the world seems to light up one notch. Pictures evoke memories! Even if you can’t personally recall the moment, there’s something about a picture that tells a story of a past time that makes you smile no matter what.
Looking through all of these old photographs I get to see photos of my grandparents, their siblings, my parents and aunts and uncles. I see photos of me and my siblings and remember when we were young and wild. I get the chance to remember the past… I get to remember how little we used to be and reminisce on moments that I would have simply forgotten if it wasn’t for these family photos. And even though our clients aren’t necessarily in these images (unless you are family, or want to donate your old family pictures to our bathroom museum), I know that those feels of memories are still evoked without even seeing images of yourself on the walls.
We’ve posted a first look video on our personal vlog channel (from when we FIRST got the keys to the studio) and you can watch that here if you want. We plan to keep you all updated with the progress of our studio via our personal youtube channel, as well as through the LVP Studios instagram stories. We have more vlogs coming soon that show the progress of our studio growing and changing, but haven’t had a moment to edit them quite yet. Be sure to subscribe to that youtube channel as well as follow us on instagram in order to get updates on how The LVP Studios is coming along!!
