Liz & Jeff celebrated their wedding at The Barn & Vineyard in Beecher, Illinois. They started their day getting ready in the onsite Bridal & Groom Suites with their closest friends. Liz shared a first look moment with her dad, her brother, and her dog before walking down the aisle and sharing the perfect first look at the altar with her love, Jeff. During the ceremony they shared heartfelt personal vows, exchanged rings, and kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Liz & Jeff continued to celebrated their marriage at their reception inside the Barn & Vineyard by scooping ice-cream together (instead of cutting cake), dancing their first dance, eating good food, and enjoying the night as husband and wife.
A fake dating story
When I asked Elizabeth to share how her and Jeff met she said, “Do you want to know the real story… or the one our family knows?” The real story is: April 2016 Elizabeth & Jeff met online using a site called Plenty of Fish. But their family and friends were told a different story. For the past 6 years they have told everyone that they met in the parking lot of the Orland Park Mall. You see, Jeff has this beautiful lifted truck, and it was all up from there… or so the story goes.
Elizabeth told us that April 17, 2016 their first date. “Jeff picked me up at my parents house (in that beautiful lifted truck) this was the first time I had met him in person.” They hopped into the truck and drove to get ice cream at Ranch Frosties in New Lenox, and after that, they described it like they were best friends for years. They drove around in his truck singing along to every country song 99.5 was playing, went to Chicagoland Speedway (he had never been before and he took a picture of his truck by the track), and from there they went back to Elizabeth’s parents house and watched tv. From that day forward Elizabeth & Jeff were pretty inseparable.
On April 23rd, a week after their first date, they were sitting on the couch and Jeff said to Elizabeth “Since you kind of already are, will you be my girlfriend?” to which she responded by running to the bathroom to call her friends and ask them if she should say yes. They obviously agreed so she went back to him and gave him a kiss and said that was her answer.
We love when weddings can incorporate personal elements into every aspect. For Liz & Jeff’s wedding they made sure that every moment was infused with something special to them. At the beginning of the day they each started with their own gifts to one another. Jeff got Liz a new necklace to wear down the aisle, and Liz got Jeff a new watch band to wear as well. Liz also gifted Jeff with an important pin that had images from those loved ones who have passed that he got to wear near his heart all day during their wedding.
Not only were their gifts to one another so precious and personal, but also their vows. While at the alter Liz & Jeff shared personally written vows that allowed them both to share their own special promises to one another. These personal touches during their ceremony made the entire affair more intimate and unique to them.
Lastly, something fun and unique that Liz & Jeff did at their wedding was to have an ice cream “cutting” moment rather than a cake cut. They knew that they would prefer cake over ice cream so why not prioritize that on their wedding day! After making their grand entrance, Liz & Jeff scooped ice cream from a bowl and spoon fed one another as their first bite together on something sweet.
