We're Trevor & Danyell--Northern Indiana's Wedding and Family Photography & Videography team. We focus on documenting your joyful, authentic, and timeless memories.
Emily & Erik had their April wedding at New Journey Farms in Lafayette, Indiana one rainy day. Their venue was perfect for a spring shower day because the indoor setting was absolutely stunning. After getting ready in their private on-site bridal suits, Emily & Erik shared a special first touch moment and then saw each other for the first time as she approached him down the aisle. While the weather was sporadically wet and cold it cooperated enough for us to even get some photos outside. As the sun began to set, they continued to celebrated their marriage by partying indoors, eating good food, cutting their cake, and dancing the night away as husband and wife with an amazing band.
A wedding date turned forever date
These two met through mutual friends who had been bugging them to get together. Emily had a wedding to attend and finally decided to take her friend up on that offer and hit up Erik to be her date. She asked him to the wedding and the rest is history.
When we asked them about the proposal Emily told us, “it was at Camp Collum.” They were walking on trails where they had hiked before, and Erik took Emily to an outdoor service spot. Emily said, “He tried to distract me so he could set up his phone to record, but I caught him trying to record, and then I knew what was happening.”
Erik had told her to get up on the stage and pretend to give a sermon, something that she’d done before during her time with Christian Ministries in Arizona. Emily rolled her eyes but obliged and while giving her mock sermon she noticed he was setting up his phone to record her. Even though she knew what was up, she kept turning around so he had time to set up his phone. They said, “It was just the two of us, so it was intimate and very sweet!” But they are so glad that Erik had the forethought to set up his phone and record this memory for them.
After getting ready in their private on-site bridal suits, Emily & Erik shared a special first touch moment around the door. If you and your fiance are not planning to do a traditional first look then we highly recommend a first touch. These moments allow for a special intimate time for you and your partner while also capturing heart-wrenching moments on photo and video. Emily & Erik then saw each other for the first time as she approached him down the aisle.
Emily & Erik found it important to incorporate English and Spanish speaking moments into their day as well as hispanic traditions. Another special moment about their wedding day was that the ceremony was shared in both languages. They were able to share their love with family on all sides! There were multiple instances of Emily & Erik bridging the gap between these two traditions that made their day so special and unique.
Finally, as the sun began to set, they continued to celebrated their marriage by partying indoors, eating good food, cutting their cake, and dancing the night away as husband and wife with an amazing band. Besides an amazing DJ, Emily & Erik also had a Latin brass band that arrived as the night got dark. There was a re-entrance in which everyone marched in with the band who continued to play loud Latin music with trumpets, clarinets, trombones, tubas, and more!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Lopez!
