Oh my gosh the sun is shining and it’s beautiful! Spring is here. You’re noticing the flowers, the warmth, the people going out and getting fresh air. It’s actually one of our favorite times of the year. If you’re looking for some spring inspiration, something fun to do together as a family, a way to document this current moment, then we’ve got you covered.
We’ve created a Spring Photo Bucket List that includes 10 photo (or video) prompts that will keep you capturing each moment all spring. We’ve also included some tips and tricks for taking better photos or capturing perfect videos from your phone.
Print out the checklist and place it in a convenient spot. Keep a copy on your phone for easy reference on the go.
Capture images or videos of you and your family completing the items.
Post your photos to social media and be sure to tag LVP Studios.
Organize your photos in one folder or name/tag them for easy access. At the end of the season, create a photo book or video collage of your final products!
1. Play dress-up outside
Wear a big floppy hat and sunglasses, dance around in a fairy costume, disguise yourself as your favorite superhero, or dress up as a farmer. Courtney and Amyra got all dressed up in their best clothes for a session last spring. They looked so cute!! If you’re doing this yourself at home, be sure to snap pictures of you and your family making silly faces too!
2. Make wind chimes
You can use old silver ware, sea shells, beads and plastic decorations, or even old keys. Hang them from pipes or a string or an old crochet loom. We’d love to see you document this moment with video and post it online for all to see.
3. Draw with sidewalk chalk
Do you have some laying around at home already? Or maybe you can make a quick trip to the dollar store. Sidewalk chalk is a staple item of spring time fun. We get so much joy walking the neighborhood and seeing peoples’ decorated sidewalks and driveways. Remember, when shooting pictures and video of children be sure to crouch down at their level.
4. Go to a park
Nature centers, town parks, and beaches are all starting to open up around this time of the year. Be sure to get out, go on a walk, and enjoy the warmth of spring with your family. Chelsea and her family in the video above chose to book a session while they played at the Dillon Nature Center. It was the perfect way for them to capture these moments with family!
5. Wear rain boots and splash in puddles
Your kids are going to love this one. Capture these funny moments with photos and videos so that you can relive the laughter for years to come. Just remember, make sure to have your shutter speed up higher so your pictures are crisp even though you’re jumping around!
6. Dye eggs
Oh the joy of messes! Dying eggs is a long time tradition for most people, so capturing the spring time fun with a DIY tutorial video or some silly photos will definitely help remind you of this season when you look back at them later. Check out our personal previous Easter videos here.
7. Fly a kite
Spring can be a windy time, so while the breeze is still nice and the weather feels fantastic, take some time to fly a kite this season. If you’re planning on capturing these moments with photo and video then consider different angles and interesting shots that include moments of movement rather than only smiling faces.
8. Watch the sun set
Sunsets are beautiful always… so why not add that into your spring bucket list. Around sunset time is also when Golden Hour hits. In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky. Pay attention to your light source. Photos with sun directly in your subjects face can be well lit but harsh, try taking some pictures with the sun behind your subject to create a glow effect.
9. Start a garden
Maybe an indoor potted garden, a small patio garden, or even plant a few garden fruits and vegetables outside. No matter where you decide to have your garden or what you decided to plant, spring time is perfect for growing.
10. Schedule family photos
Spring is an excellent time to schedule a session with your family and loved ones. Family photos have always been important, but now family video can capture your truest moments in time as they really are. You’ll be able to see pictures of your children laughing as well as hear the laughter through amazing videos. The money you invest will provide memories for you and your families for years to come. Loved ones will grow up, your children will move out, and times will change. Most importantly, the memories of your lifetime will be preserved by the videos and images taken during this special season. Inquire to receive a full pricing guide.
