We are thrilled to announce that we are now offering Drone and Aerial footage free of charge with all of our packages that include video!! Flying a drone, even for wedding events, requires special authorization by the FAA. We took the time to get properly licensed, and are now ready for take-off.
We recently unboxed the DJI Mavic 2 Pro and added it to our camera bag, and we already love to fly it whenever possible. However, keep in mind that we must abide by any FAA regulations in the area of your venue and can only fly it if the weather is permitting. We always plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your actually booking begins and use this time to get acquainted with your venue, organize our gear, and now fly the drone.
We plan to incorporate aerial footage to show a different perspective — of the landscape, the venue, or occasionally even your family or wedding party. Even though flying the drone is fun to do, important to us, and makes some awesome footage for your video, for safety reasons, we will only fly if weather conditions are good, and if we are in an area where drone flight is permitted. If your event is somewhere with flight restrictions (such as near an airport or within the bounds of a national park), and drone footage is important to you, we’ll let you know and see what other options we might have, such as driving out of the restricted zone during your certain photo times.
Check out this fun footage we got at a family session right before Christmas.
Benefits of using a drone
1. Seeing the bigger picture
A drone can fly quite high meaning that it can get shots from angles that are impossible to get in any other way. Due to the large area that a drone covers, couples who hold their weddings at a larger venue do not have to worry that some of the aspects of the wedding will not be captured, and families can add an interesting element to their highlight video as well. Using a drone ensures that none of the significant moments are left out. The drone can capture funny and entertaining shots of the event, venue, guests, family, etc.
2. The combination of Drone Footage with Ground Footage
Creating a story is the whole purpose of a video. While story can be captured simply from the ground, we find that when we can use drone shots to establish location, introduce something new, or transition to a new venue, we have an easier time showcasing the story as a whole.
Also, Drone Footage is just cool. Don’t get us wrong, we understand how awesome it is to see your entire ceremony site or your family running around in a field from up in the sky. It offers a unique perspective that compliments the footage that we are capturing on the ground. It’s just straight up awesome.
3. A new perspective
Drones offer a new perspective on your day that you would be unable to see otherwise. Not only can you see the large landscape of your venue, but you can also request creative shots like a large group shot with the drone to include in your video. And if your ceremony/reception or family photo shoot takes place outside, we can get a different perspective of your day from sending the drone up to do it’s job!
