We're Trevor & Danyell--Northern Indiana's Wedding and Family Photography & Videography team. We focus on documenting your joyful, authentic, and timeless memories.
Hey, it’s Danyell! This past weekend (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) I attended the In Focus Marketing Summit hosted by Jasmine Norris and Victoria Rayburn. The In Focus Marketing Summit is a photography workshop that focuses on marketing strategies to grow your business. Myself and six other photographers studied subjects like identifying and targeting our dream customers, developing and communicating our brand, creating content marketing strategies for blogs and social media, building client focused websites that inspire website visitors to take action, optimizing our websites for search engines, and more.
A Photographer’s Dream
This year, the In Focus Marketing Summit was held in Indianapolis, Indiana in an adorable Airbnb. It was truly a photographer’s dream—getting to connect and work with other amazing and driven photographers in our area, sleeping over in a bright and modern cottage away from home, and working with experts to learn better strategies to make our photography businesses, like LVP Studios, grow.
I absolutely loved that we were able to have a little get-away from home and work solely on this one thing: MARKETING OUR BUSINESSES. We had hour long learning sessions following by dedicated work time that we could take to implement what we just learned. Not only did we receive super helpful marketing information, but we also learned actionable steps that we could implement right then and there before ever leaving the summit. Locked away (in a good way, haha) in this super cute Airbnb allowed us to spend 2.5 days doing nothing but focusing on our businesses.
I honestly thought that sharing a bed with a stranger was going to be the worst thing ever, and don’t get me wrong… the first night falling asleep was a little rough. But in the end I am actually so grateful that we did it this way. I was “forced” to interact with these other lovely ladies that were here learning the same things as me. Being that this was a sleepover in a small intimate style I was able to create a bond with some of these girls that I never would have if this was a come-and-go workshop.
Implementation as we learned
We’d do trainings and lessons during the day, then more towards the evening in down time we would start implementing what we were learning, bounce ideas off of one another, and get immediate answers and feedback. All of this while also sipping on wine, eating delicious snacks from Sassy Sweets Catering, and bonding with our new photographer friends!
There was amazing food!
Because we stayed in an Airbnb in Indianapolis, Jasmine and Victoria hired a wonderful caterer, Connie, from Sassy Sweets Catering to cook all of our meals. The part that I am most impressed by was her ability to appease all of our dietary restrictions. For such a small group, we actually had a lot of special requests—vegetarian, no pork, and gluten free. She also baked the best cupcakes and cookies that you will ever eat (sorry Grandma).
All of us at the In Focus Marking Summit were able to work, snack, and eat delicious foods from Sassy Sweets Catering. The diets went out the window for 2.5 days, but we fueled our brains as we took in all of this important marking information and strategies.
I have a video on our vlog channel about the In Focus Marketing Summit and what I learned. You can check it out here.
