A fall overcast day with the leaves still showing their beautiful colors at The Barn at Willow Lake in North Vernon, Indiana, where Brittany & Robert prepped in their private rooms with their closest friends and family for their big day filled with an emotional outdoor wedding under an arch, a dance-all-night type of reception in the barn with so many heartfelt speeches and even more tears of laughter and joy, and finally finishing off the night with delicious food and cake—this was Brittany & Robert’s special day.
It started with some glass in his eye.
As you all are well aware now, we always ask our couples to complete a questionnaire so that we can get to know one another a bit better. We also get the chance to meet with so many amazing couples who have great stories to tell about how they met, how they got engaged, and ultimately what led them to this specific moment.
When we asked Brittany to tell us about how her and Robert met she replied, “It’s a crazy one.” Apparently, her coworker had been trying to set the two of them up forever. However, they both thought it would be weird to add a random person on Facebook. But fate had a different thing in mind… So, fast forward a few months later. and Robert gets glass in his eye from work!! This prompts him to come into the office that Brittany works at (fate, am I right?!) Thus, the finally add each other on Facebook, and the rest of their relationship grows from there.
Then a felony stop leads to a proposal.
Guys, I seriously can’t make this stuff up. Their proposal is seriously one of those that you see on the news. A proposal that makes everyone ooooh and aahhhh. According to Brittany, “He proposed by getting his police friends to pull us over doing a felony stop.” The police friends then made Robert get out of the car using the speakers to tell him to do so meaning that Brittany had no idea who the officers were. As she waited in the car, one of his friends came and got her out of the car. Brittany then tells the story that “he had me stand in front of him as he was already on his knees. It was pretty cute.”
Brittany’s gorgeous ring is featured in their highlight film. You will see one clip where her ring fits perfectly inside of Robert’s ring making for an epic ceremony shot of the two balanced together. (After the ring balancing act) Brittany walked down the aisle with her father as tears streamed down his face. Everyone was emotional as he was giving her away, including Robert who had not yet seen Brittany all day.
“I can’t even get through the first sentence!”
Brittany and Robert chose not to do a first look, which meant that when she walked down the aisle with her father was the first time that Robert was going to see her. Instead of doing a first look, however, they chose to share letters and read them aloud. These letters brought tears to both of their eyes.
Brittany read first about how Robert felt when he first laid eyes on her, how she makes him feel now, and how he couldn’t wait to see her walk down the aisle. Then Robert read his letter from Brittany in his respective room. As everyone listened, he read a few works before getting chocked by the emotion and proclaiming, “I can’t even get through the first sentence!” It was emotionally rough for both of them, but they made it through.
Letters are something that we strongly encourage all of our couples to do. It allows you to have a moment to reflect on your relationship past and present with your soon-to-be spouse. It gives those of you who maybe don’t want to commit vows in front of others or have a fear of public speaking. But most importantly, it is a great memory that we can capture with video to really tie your story of your day together in an emotional way.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Runstrom!
