Oh my gosh the leaves are changing and it’s beautiful! You’re noticing the leaves, the crisp breeze, the people bundling up in flannels and scarves. It’s actually one of our favorite times of the year. If you’re looking for some fall inspiration, something fun to do together as a family, a way to document this current moment, then we’ve got you covered.
We’ve created a Fall Photo Bucket List that includes 10 photo (or video) prompts that will keep you capturing each moment all fall season. We’ve also included some tips and tricks for taking better photos or capturing perfect videos from your phone.
Print out the checklist and place it in a convenient spot. Keep a copy on your phone for easy reference on the go.
Capture images or videos of you and your family completing the items.
Post your photos to social media and be sure to tag LVP Studios.
Organize your photos in one folder or name/tag them for easy access. At the end of the season, create a photo book or video collage of your final products!
1. Go apple picking
There’s else nothing like apple orchards and pumpkin patches that just scream fall to us! Walking through the rows with your family, spouse, or loved ones is not always just about picking out the perfect apples to eat or pumpkins for carving, it’s also about bonding together over this fun fall activity. Plus, they look so cute in pictures too!! Be sure to snap pictures of you and your family having fun, making silly faces, and enjoying these moments!
2. Watch the leaves change color
The best way to do this is to take consecutive pictures of a tree at your home or across the street that is changing colors. We’ve been posting some beautiful orange colored trees to our Instagram Stories lately that are right across the road from our front porch. We are loving watching all of these trees change color and can’t wait to see the whole block covered in reds and oranges and yellows.
3. Light some candles
Fall scents are something else! They are by far our favorite in our home (a close second is spring time clean smells). We want to challenge you to light some candles and let us know how your home smells. Taking pictures in candle light can replicate Golden Hour. In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky.
4. Make a crockpot meal
Chili, soups, mac and cheese, the list is literally endless thanks to Pinterest. Documenting your favorite fall recipe this year can be something fun we share with others. Consider capturing these recipes as you make them with photo and video—try different angles and interesting shots that include moments of movement rather than only still shots of food on a plate.
5. Watch a football game
In case you didn’t know, our house is BIG about Kansas City football. We are Chiefs fans around here (and probably the one ones in all of Indiana, but that’s what happens when your husband was raised in Kansas). We fly the Superbowl flag proud on the front of our house and never miss a game on TV. You can take pictures of these moments at home, but if you get the chance to go out and watch a real game in person just remember to have your shutter speed up higher so your pictures are crisp even though you’re jumping around!
6. Decorate your home
Maybe indoor you can display some fake foliage, fall quotes, or extra throw blankets. Outdoors you can add some mums, put out fall pillows for your patio furniture, and of course, add pumpkins! No matter how you decide to decorate for this time of year, fall time is perfect for changing up some of the items in your home.
7. Read a book and get cozy
Fall seems like the perfect time to slow down, grab a cup of tea, and cuddle up with a good book. There’s something about brisk air and fresh scents that just make reading a book sound so much more appealing. Share with us some of your favorite books by snapping some pictures or posting a video review.
8. Make s’mores
Are you gathering with family and friends around bonfires more recently? We sure are, and we love it! Taking pictures when you’re together as a group is super important. Be sure to use these moments of bonfires and making s’mores as a time to document memories. Shooting in lowlight can be tricky, so don’t be afraid to experiment with light sources, keep your aperture low, and be careful with high ISO.
9. Go on a crisp morning walk
Last year, Emily and her two girls met me at the Tippecanoe River State Park where we walked the trails together and enjoyed capturing their fun fall activities. It is so great to have these moments documented with photo and video for Emily to relive over again. Their walked turned into something special just because we took the time to snap some pictures and record a video. You can see everything from their day here.
10. Schedule family photos
Fall is an excellent time to schedule a session with your family and loved ones. Family photos have always been important, but now family video can capture your truest moments in time as they really are. You’ll be able to see pictures of your children laughing as well as hear the laughter through amazing videos. The money you invest will provide memories for you and your families for years to come. Loved ones will grow up, your children will move out, and times will change. Most importantly, the memories of your lifetime will be preserved by the videos and images taken during this special season. Inquire to receive a full pricing guide.
