A beautiful day with the sun shining bright on their family farm in Monterey, Indiana, causally getting ready with their closest friends and family followed by a rustic outdoor wedding in their front lawn, an exciting reception in their barn with heartfelt speeches and tears of laughter and joy, and finishing off the night with loads of dancing, delicious food, cake, and donuts, and lots of hugs from loving friends—this was Katie & Stone’s special day.
It all started with a wink.
As part of our wedding preparation process, we have all of our brides fill out a questionnaire. This gives us important information about their day, the timeline, where to be, etc. but it also allows us to get to know them and their fiance a bit more. One of the questions we always ask on the questionnaire is how did you meet. This was Katie and Stone’s answer: “We met through mutual friends! One night we were all hanging out and I looked across the room & he was staring at me so I winked at him and the rest is history.” It’s funny to think how a relationship like this one started with just a simple wink.
On our LVP Studios Questionnaire we also ask about the proposal. We are suckers for a good story, and love to know all of the details around how they planned out the big question. Katie told us, “He proposed when we were on vacation in Florida. We were walking back to our room from a nice dinner and getting our pictures done. When we stopped to take pictures facing each other and the second he placed his hand on my face he was shaking and I knew something was up. Then he got down on one knee and I don’t know what he said because I just started crying but I definitely heard “will you marry me?” and here we are!!”
An unexpected backyard wedding.
I keep saying “backyard wedding” but technically it was in their beautiful front yard down their lane before you arrive at Katie’s family home. Katie & Stone had planned a different wedding at a venue nearby, but due to the unforeseen circumstances of this crazy year, decided to instead have a more intimate wedding at Katie’s family farm. They got ready on the property at the residence, got married in front of hay bales right next to their corn field, and partied the night away in the working barn across the lane.
My favorite part of their wedding day was Katie coming down the aisle in an old fashioned blue car. Her grandpa treated them to a ride in style afterwards as well as we traveled to a location down the road for photos. The baby blue car was decked out in it’s vintage glory, fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, and signs on the back letting everyone know that the couple inside had been “just married.”
